Abstract:
Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is a thermoplastic material also known as polyethylene-vinyl-acetate (PEVA), which is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate (VA). The presence of polar groups in its structure improves its performance significantly in terms of cohesion and adhesion to different substrates. The higher the vinyl acetate content, the higher the adhesion.
Different techniques have been used to characterize and compare these polyolefins. Crystallization Elution Fractionation (CEF) and Thermal Gradient Interaction Chromatography (TGIC) provide us with Chemical Composition Distribution (CCD) results. In these techniques, elution temperature is dependent on the comonomer content.
On the other hand, Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) with and IR composition sensor has been used to get the Molar Mass Distribution (MMD) and the acetate incorporation along the molar mass.
