The Soluble Fraction or amorphous phase test is intended to measure the amorphous fraction of Polypropylene and Ethylene-Propylene copolymers. The accuracy and precision in the Xylene Solubles tests are very important to the process and product specifications of the resultant materials.
Traditionally, this test is done by using the gravimetric method (ISO6427, App. B), which requires manual operation along the whole process. As a result, the precision is poor and the procedure is time consuming.
To obtain the amorphous content percentage, Polymer Char uses either CRYSTEX, CRYSTEX QC, or CRYSTEX 42 depending on the requirements of the analysis. With all three instruments, precision and accuracy in the results are achieved without handling solvents manually through a fully-automated process.
Soluble Fraction, composition and viscosity results provided with no manual solvents handling.
